This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
• Designs and oversees the implementation of educational programs focused on coding.
• Ensures uniformity and precision in coding and documentation practices.
• Serves as a point of contact for any coding inquiries and issues between providers, coding, corporate responsibilities, and educational departments.
• Enhances clinical and financial results through comprehensive evaluation of provider documentation and coding skills, while identifying areas for improvement.
• Creates and provides training and education on all coding processes.
• Remains updated on regulatory changes and collaborates with leadership to maintain compliance and revenue integrity.
• Functions as a subject matter expert for providers and coders, offering guidance and clarification on daily account processing challenges.
• Establishes and manages internal quality review processes along with relevant training for providers and coders.
• Assesses provider documentation for clarity, completeness, and consistency to ensure the best code selection.
• Educates providers on coding standards, practices, and documentation methods.
• Conducts audits of provider documentation to pinpoint opportunities or risks.
• Develops educational resources for providers based on findings and identified needs.
• Maintains clear and consistent communication with coding and corporate responsibility regarding education and guidance provided to both providers and coders.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or a related field, or equivalent experience and education.
• A minimum of three years of professional experience.
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) OR Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) OR Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) OR Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) OR Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) OR Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
