This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Assess and resolve coding adjustments in designated Epic work queues
• Examine medical record documentation and allocate the correct CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers
• Navigate through Epic EMR, reports, and work queues
• Analyze coding bundling guidelines and the application of modifiers
• Utilize knowledge of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule
• Inform coding leadership about coding and denial trends as well as provider education opportunities
• Communicate with providers via Epic in-basket messages and email
• Employ Microsoft Office Suite and Optum Encoder Pro
• Deliver education and training for medical providers and departmental coders
• Conduct quality assurance audits within the specialty team
• Ensure adherence to coding regulations and guidelines
• Support leadership with communications, tip sheets, and workflows
• Monitor coding workflows and identify areas for improvement
• Investigate and address specialty-area coding inquiries
• Advocate for Intermountain Health’s mission, vision, and values
• Execute additional duties as assigned
• High School Diploma or equivalent, required
• At least five (5) years of professional fee coding experience
• Minimum of three (3) years within the specified specialty service line
• Required credential: CPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P)
• Preferred seven plus (7+) years of relevant coding experience
• Preferred related specialty coding credential
• E/M (Evaluation & Management) coding experience is mandatory
• Experience coding for the designated specialty-specific service line is essential
• Previous experience with Epic and managing work queues is preferred
• Prior experience with Epic/PB Resolute is advantageous
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required
• Skills in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding are necessary
• Capacity to see and read information, labels, documents, and monitors
• Ability to verbally communicate and comprehend spoken information
• Manual dexterity for frequent computer use and precise handling of supplies and equipment
