This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Evaluate medical documentation and assign the correct codes (ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT).
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, regulations, and company protocols.
• Operate independently while effectively communicating with healthcare professionals.
• Comprehend Medicare and Commercial Carrier processes related to daily coding and denial assessments.
• Engage in coding team meetings and act as a subject matter expert.
• An associate degree in Health Information Technology or a Coding Certification is mandatory.
• In-depth knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology is essential.
• Completion of relevant coursework from an accredited institution in ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems is preferred.
• One of the following certifications is required: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice (CPC-A), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician based (CCS-P), CCS Healthcare (CCS-H), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC).
