This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
β’ Accountable for extracting clinical data and assigning CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes from medical records and documents to facilitate the collection of physicians' professional fees.
β’ Extracts billing information for outpatient evaluation and management codes, minor surgical procedures, and HCPCS (supplies and pharmaceuticals) codes from provider documentation.
β’ Investigates straightforward coding and billing issues for physicians to identify and suggest the most suitable coding or billing methods.
β’ Analyzes medical records to assess the appropriateness of coding and to identify potential patterns of misuse.
β’ A minimum of two years of experience in records coding or an equivalent background.
β’ Proficient in performing tasks in a Microsoft Windows environment.
β’ Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in task execution.
β’ Capable of making sound decisions.
β’ Exhibits strong communication and teamwork skills.
β’ Previous experience with an electronic legal health record system is preferred.
β’ Knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology/Medical terminology is required.
β’ Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder) is mandatory.
