This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Vermont.
• Assigns diagnosis, procedure, and DRG codes to guarantee quality documentation and precise reimbursement for services rendered.
• Reviews intricate documentation from medical records.
• Utilizes coding guidelines and resources to accurately allocate codes.
• Identifies quality issues and refers them to the quality department.
• Works collaboratively with CDI staff to ensure correct coding and DRG assignment.
• Analyzes complex documentation from medical records to determine the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD, PCS, CPT).
• Applies coding guidelines, clinic protocols, LCDs, NCDs, and other resources to accurately assign and sequence the appropriate codes and designate DRG.
• Recognizes any quality issues and refers them to the quality department as necessary.
• Collaborates diligently with CDI staff to ensure accurate DRG/AAPC assignments.
• Provides justification for any discrepancies in DRG/AAPC assignments.
• Seeks clarification from healthcare providers to ensure precise and comprehensive coding.
