Coder – Hospital Outpatient

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Accurately assigns diagnostic and procedure codes in accordance with clinical documentation and established coding guidelines for outpatient hospital accounts.

• Evaluates HCPCS charges and codes to ensure the appropriateness of modifiers concerning NCCI/CCI edits. Inputs the correct charge information when necessary.

• Oversees assigned work queues to guarantee that all records are charged promptly.

• Creates coding queries to seek clarification on physician documentation as needed.

• Remains informed about all updates in coding conventions and coding changes.

• Performs additional duties as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma/GED or a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.

• No prior experience is necessary.

• Certified Coding Associate (CCA) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

• Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
