This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Examine medical records and related claim information to confirm the accuracy of DRG assignments and/or itemized billing.
• Apply coding guidelines to conduct DRG validation.
• Verify principal diagnosis, secondary diagnoses, the sequencing of diagnoses, discharge statuses, and procedures using the medical record.
• Implement CPT and ICD-10 guidelines.
• Confirm itemized bill payments using the UB-04, the itemized bill, and industry/client coding standards.
• Prepare appeal responses for claims in accordance with industry standards and company/client policies.
• Uphold certifications and fulfill continuing education requirements.
• Coding certification in good standing. Examples include CCS, CPC, CIC.
• Experience in coding validation/auditing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective organizational abilities.
• Capability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
