Coding Auditor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Evaluate the procedures and codes charged on a claim against a medical record.

• Analyze the information provided on the claims to ascertain the amount and nature of billable services as necessary.

• Assess the appropriateness of billing and reimbursement as required.

• Record findings for each claim line in a spreadsheet as necessary.

• Compile findings into a written report as needed.

• Extract CPT, HCPCS, Revenue Codes, DRG codes, and ICD-10 from medical records as necessary.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and pertinent federal and/or state regulations as required.

• Understand and adhere to all company Privacy and Security standards.

• Employees must not use or disclose any protected health information, except as allowed by law.

• Typically, there are at least 5-10 claim line reviews conducted per hour.

• Perform additional duties as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least one year of investigative experience is mandatory.

• Must possess one of the following certifications: CPC, CCS, or CCA.

• Familiarity with medical terminology is essential.

• Understanding of coding systems including CPT, HCPCS, Revenue Codes, DRG Codes, and ICD-10.

• Knowledge of specialized medical practices is necessary.

• Must demonstrate attention to detail.

• Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.

• Strong listening abilities are required.

• Must be self-reliant.

• Responsible and accountable for tasks.

• Must exhibit self-discipline.

• Ability to meet established performance and production targets.

• Proficient computer skills are necessary.

• This position necessitates access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring continuous discretion and secure information management.
