This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide maintenance and support for a comprehensive payroll application.
• Assist in managing the database environment.
• Design, develop, and alter software systems, employing scientific analysis and mathematical models to forecast and evaluate outcomes and implications of designs.
• Oversee software system installations and monitor equipment performance to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Modify current databases and database management systems.
• Create and code logical and physical database descriptions, specifying identifiers for the database to the management system, or guide others in coding these descriptions.
• Collaborate within a project team to coordinate database development and define project scope and limitations.
• Conduct interdisciplinary research and work alongside equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in planning, designing, developing, and utilizing electronic data processing systems for products and commercial software.
• Assess computer user needs; analyze system capabilities to troubleshoot issues related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls; prepare operating instructions; and design and develop compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
• Ensure compliance with software standards.
• Evaluate user needs and software requirements to ascertain the feasibility of design within time and budget constraints.
• Consult with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design systems and gather information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
• Review project proposals detailing database users' requirements to estimate the time and cost necessary to complete the project.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Over 4 years of experience with IBM z/OS-based mainframe technologies, including COBOL, CICS, JCL, TSO, ISPF, Endevor, and REXX.
• Extensive knowledge of IDMS databases.
• Proficient in designing, coding, and testing software requirements.
• Fundamental understanding of the complete software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification writing, to development, testing, and delivery.
• Familiarity with computer development software relevant to systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc.
• Knowledge of Agile methodology is an advantage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• Must not have traveled outside the US for a cumulative total of 6 months or more in the past 5 years.
• Must have resided in the US for the last 5 years.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Eligibility to obtain DoD Public Trust clearance.
