This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Assess proposed CNC machining methods for their technical viability and readiness for production.
• Evaluate if machining strategies can be carried out safely and reliably on actual equipment.
• Compare solutions against CAD models, available materials, machine setups, and tooling options.
• Create objective and measurable grading criteria for CNC machining solutions.
• Establish standards that reflect practical manufacturing needs.
• Analyze tooling choices, machining sequences, setup decisions, workholding, material considerations, tool accessibility, and limitations of the machines.
• Detect potential collisions, unsafe configurations, process constraints, and impractical machining choices.
• Evaluate production efficiency, dependability, machining quality, and manufacturability.
• Compose verification justifications detailing the rationale for accepting or rejecting machining decisions.
• Review sample solutions and provide documentation of pass/fail reasoning.
• Generate concise and technically accurate written evaluations.
• Validate grading criteria and completed assessments for clarity, objectivity, technical correctness, and internal consistency.
• Assist in developing reliable evaluation standards for advanced AI and manufacturing processes.
• Over 5 years of practical CNC machining experience.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of CNC manufacturing and workflows on the production floor.
• Capability to assess whether machining methods will operate safely and effectively in production settings.
• Experience in interpreting CAD models, material needs, tooling limitations, and machining arrangements.
• Deep understanding of machining strategies, workholding, tooling, feeds and speeds, and production factors.
• Ability to recognize unsafe, impractical, or ineffective machining methods.
• Excellent proficiency in written English with the ability to clearly articulate technical decisions.
• Comfortable creating detailed text-based evaluations and verification justifications.
• Familiarity with Haas machines, especially the VF-2, is a plus.
• Knowledge of Makera Carvera or similar hobbyist CNC platforms is beneficial.
• Work must be conducted without utilizing any confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, institution, or third party.
