Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Collaborative Implementation: Partner with Software Engineering to deploy and configure the AWS resources necessary for new product features, ensuring compliance with established platform standards.

• Infrastructure Automation: Create and update Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates (using Terraform or CloudFormation) to effectively manage our SaaS environments, transitioning from manual configurations to automated processes.

• Environment Support: Oversee and troubleshoot the health of our Windows-based cloud instances, guaranteeing high availability for our customers.

• Deployment Support: Assist in the management of CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless code releases. Aid in troubleshooting deployment failures to minimize disruption to the development lifecycle.

• Proactive Monitoring: Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (like CloudWatch) to enhance visibility into platform performance and proactively identify potential issues before they affect users.

• Security & Compliance Tasks: Implement security best practices as directed, including management of IAM roles, VPC configurations, and security group updates to maintain a secure SaaS environment.

• Resource Optimization: Monitor resource utilization and participate in executing cost-optimization initiatives, such as decommissioning unused resources or modifying instance types for improved efficiency.

• Incident Support: Engage in the incident management process by investigating technical alerts, conducting initial root-cause analysis, and coordinating with senior engineers and developers for resolution.

• Continuous Learning: Keep abreast of AWS services and DevOps tools, contributing to the team’s documentation and helping to enhance internal operational processes.

• Availability: Join a team on-call rotation and perform scheduled after-hours technical work to ensure platform stability and address high-priority maintenance needs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.

• Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

• Hands-on experience supporting MSSQL environments, with a solid grasp of database fundamentals and maintenance.

• Strong scripting skills in PowerShell and Python for operational task automation.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong dedication to providing exceptional customer service.

• A desire and aptitude for working in a highly collaborative, self-organizing team environment.

• Highly organized and detail-oriented.

• AS or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 2+ years of practical experience with cloud infrastructure and services.

• AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer - Associate or an equivalent certification is highly preferred.

• Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk and work on a computer.

• Occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
