Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Perform assessments of cloud readiness and develop migration strategies to ensure seamless transitions to AWS.

• Design and create scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions on AWS, leveraging cloud-native technologies.

• Assist in architecting and implementing large-scale cloud-native data processing ETL workloads utilizing AWS services.

• Offer Subject Matter Expert (SME) recommendations for big data storage solutions, installations, and configurations while addressing scaling requirements.

• Aid in database analysis, architecture, design, development, administration, capacity/storage management, implementation, and operations of multi-terabyte scalable enterprise backend database systems.

• Provide expertise and support for the migration from on-premises computing infrastructure to AWS cloud, ensuring data integrity, minimal downtime, and high availability.

• Advise on best practices for cloud application design, deployment, and optimization, including the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Collaborate with customers to gather requirements, understand their application architecture, and deliver customized cloud migration strategies while working closely with engineering teams to ensure smooth application and service deployment.

• Configure and implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate building, testing, and deployment processes within the AWS environment.

• Keep abreast of emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our service offerings.

• Lead and mentor team members in executing cloud solutions while ensuring compliance with architectural standards.

• Review security scans, accessibility audits, and performance testing to ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements, and provide mitigation or improvement plans where necessary, while supporting the implementation of remediation activities to resolve identified issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Over 7 years of experience in cloud architecture, particularly focusing on AWS services.

• Ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance - US Citizenship required for eligibility.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing cloud-native applications.

• Strong understanding of application migration strategies and tools.

• Comprehensive knowledge of AWS services (S3, EMR, Glue, Lambda, AWS Step Functions, Athena, Redshift, SageMaker, QuickSight) and best practices.

• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.

• Proficient in leveraging IaC to develop automated deployment and orchestration solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, and other scripting tools.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with customers and teams.

• AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is strongly preferred.

• Experience supporting federal government organizations and missions is highly preferred.
