Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Perform assessments to determine cloud readiness and develop migration strategies to ensure smooth transitions to AWS.

• Create and design scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud solutions on AWS, utilizing cloud-native technologies.

• Assist in architecting and implementing large-scale cloud-native data processing ETL workloads using AWS services.

• Offer subject matter expert recommendations for big data storage solutions, installations, and configurations while meeting scaling requirements.

• Support database analysis, architecture, design, development, administration, capacity/storage, implementation, and operations of multi-terabyte scalable enterprise backend database systems.

• Provide expertise and assistance for transitioning from on-premises computing infrastructure to AWS cloud, ensuring data integrity, minimal downtime, and high availability.

• Advise on best practices for cloud application design, deployment, and optimization, including the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Collaborate with customers to gather requirements, comprehend their application architecture, and offer customized cloud migration strategies while working closely with engineering teams to ensure the smooth deployment of applications and services.

• Set up and implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate builds, testing, and deployment in the AWS environment.

• Keep abreast of emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to consistently improve our service offerings.

• Lead and mentor team members in deploying cloud solutions, ensuring compliance with architectural standards.

• Review security scans, accessibility audits, and performance testing to guarantee full compliance with cybersecurity requirements; analyze results and provide mitigation or improvement plans as needed, supporting the implementation of remediation actions to address identified issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• Over 7 years of experience in cloud architecture, particularly focusing on AWS services.

• Eligibility to obtain a Public Trust security clearance - US Citizenship required.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and executing cloud-native applications.

• Strong understanding of application migration strategies and tools.

• Excellent knowledge of AWS services (S3, EMR, Glue, Lambda, AWS Step Functions, Athena, Redshift, SageMaker, QuickSight) and best practices.

• Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.

• Proficient in leveraging IaC to develop automated deployment and orchestration solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, and other scripting tools.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with customers and teams.

• AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is strongly preferred.

• Experience supporting federal government organizations and missions is highly preferred.
