Cloud Data Engineer – Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Support the design and execution of company databases.

• Convert business requirements into corresponding conceptual data models.

• Collaborate with development teams to generate physical data models and implementation timelines.

• Establish best practices for uniform data model development.

• Ensure that data models comply with data classification and governance standards.

• Evaluate data models for discrepancies, efficiency, and interoperability.

• Advocate for data models and align their application with business objectives.

• Diagnose and enhance data models.

• Work in partnership with platform architects, product owners, and data analysts.

• Execute other related tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of five (5) years of practical experience with relational and dimensional data modeling.

• In-depth knowledge of metadata management and associated tools.

• Strong interpersonal abilities.

• Outstanding communication and presentation skills.

• Advanced troubleshooting capabilities.

• Detail-oriented with the ability to anticipate edge cases in real data sets.

• Familiarity with software engineering and DevOps best practices, including source control, branching strategies, automated testing, and automated deployments.

• Proficient in writing data transformations in code or utilizing GUI tools.

• Knowledge of contemporary CI/CD practices and principles.

• Experience in Jenkins development is preferred.

• Solid understanding of DataOps principles.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office and web tools.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

• Ability to pass the required background check.

• Familiarity with dbt, Snowflake, Alation, and Power BI.

• CBIP Certification is a plus.
