Cloud Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Create modular data integrations utilizing an event-driven architecture.

• Collaborate with data analysts and architects to comprehend and fulfill development requirements.

• Work alongside engineers and technical leads throughout the design and development phases.

• Produce unit tests and facilitate integration, end-to-end, and performance testing.

• Manage integrations through CI/CD validation, testing, and deployment processes.

• Present and demonstrate integration solutions and progress during bi-weekly sprint reviews.

• Oversee deployed data integrations, monitor for issues, and resolve any problems.

• Automate essential business needs for online K-12 learning and large-scale school management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent training.

• Three (3) years of pertinent professional experience with AWS cloud services or equivalent Azure/GCP services.

• Expertise in Python development.

• Skilled in utilizing SQL and APIs to automate interactions with data stores and systems.

• Knowledge of pub/sub event-driven architecture and ETL data pipeline patterns.

• Experience in developing unit, integration, functional, and performance tests.

• Familiarity with enterprise-grade DevOps practices, version control branching, release management, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Proven ability to work with a highly collaborative and agile remote development team.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

• Capable of passing a required background check.

• Experience in the education and/or educational technology sectors is preferred.

• Knowledge of data streaming, data integration, and batch data pipelines is desired.

• Familiarity with relational databases, object storage, graph databases, and data warehouses is desired.

• Experience with Snowflake or equivalent data warehousing services is desired.

• AWS or Azure cloud certifications are preferred.
