Cloud Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Design and develop data platforms on AWS, including data lakes and analytical environments utilizing services such as S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, and Lake Formation.

• Architect a secure and cost-effective cloud infrastructure leveraging IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, and associated services.

• Implement data governance, security measures, and compliance frameworks that align with relevant standards and requirements.

• Collaborate with analysts, developers, and project managers to facilitate analytic workloads in Python, R, and SQL, promoting data-driven decision-making.

• Enable secure, automated delivery of curated data to business intelligence and decision-making dashboards through modern DevSecOps methodologies.

• Monitor system performance, automate scaling processes, and ensure the high availability and resilience of the data environment.

• Optimize data storage and query performance, striking a balance between cost and efficiency across various environments.

• Manage user access, permissions, and data sharing models for both internal and external collaborators.

• Develop infrastructure-as-code templates and maintain comprehensive documentation for deployment and configuration.

• Provide technical guidance to data and software engineering teams regarding best practices and architectural patterns in AWS.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in designing and implementing data solutions on AWS.

• Expertise in AWS services including S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, CloudFormation, and IAM.

• Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (Python is preferred).

• Experience with data lakehouse design patterns, schema management, and ETL orchestration tools.

• Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and cloud security standards.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently or as part of multidisciplinary teams.

• AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect is preferred.
