This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Collaborate with the clinical leadership team on strategy and operations.
• Provide leadership within the clinical informatics team, focusing on clinical subject matter expertise in areas such as Primary Care, Behavioral Health, Substance Use, Dentistry, Acute Care, and Pharmacy.
• Offer clinical informatics consultation internally at OCHIN.
• Review clinical inquiries using the incident management system (JIRA).
• Provide ad hoc consultation for additional OCHIN Epic build or maintenance projects.
• Analyze clinical EHR break/fix issues as required.
• Engage in build activities primarily in design, depending on time, interest, and skill level.
• Participate in member engagement initiatives.
• Prepare and present at Clinical Operations Review Committee (CORC) and Clinical Oversight Group (COG) meetings.
• Provide ad hoc consultation as needed.
• Contribute to the Learning Forum – OCHIN’s annual user group meeting.
• Mentor provider builders at member organizations.
• Support new members before, during, and after their installation.
• Facilitate focus groups.
• Recommend modifications to clinical information systems to enhance efficiency, optimize clinician time, and improve communication with affiliates and referring physicians.
• Assist the clinical team in measuring, communicating, and fostering an increase in workforce satisfaction among member sites.
• Engage in Clinical Knowledge Management efforts.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of Clinical Decision Support (CDS).
• Participate in the clinical review of CDS content.
• Communicate effectively with members regarding CDS.
• Lead or participate in interdisciplinary work groups within areas of expertise.
• Develop or enhance subject matter expertise and provide leadership in one or more priority areas.
• Involvement may include product consultation, research initiatives, business and foundation development needs, or policy.
• Utilize strong communication skills, particularly in conveying messages between IT and clinical staff, members, and stakeholders.
• Analyze trends in health informatics to guide the development of IT systems and infrastructure that enhance efficiency and improve patient outcomes.
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of the contemporary health field and its future direction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Clinical degree and licensure (NP, PA, RN, PsyD, LPC, LCSW, PT, OT, RD, RT, MPH, PharmD), or other relevant master’s degree without licensure, and/or equivalent relevant training and experience with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Primary Care, Behavioral Health, Substance Use, Pharmacy, Acute Care, or other clinical specialties.
• Experience with FQHC/Safety Net clinics is preferred.
• Epic experience is required; Epic Clinical Certification appropriate for role in ambulatory, Provider Builder/Clinical Content Builder, or equivalent is desired, or a willingness to become Epic certified within the first year of hire.
• Knowledge and previous experience in clinical innovation, healthcare transformation, and quality improvement are preferred.
• Part-time clinical work alongside this position is desirable.
• Familiarity with population health and analytics, and their application in clinical settings is preferred.
• Understanding of Healthcare Administrative Data and regulatory programs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Availability for occasional travel, including supporting go-lives according to OCHIN’s policy (go-live support is required, and this may sometimes be provided virtually).
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer application systems, including experience with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with methodologies such as the Model for Improvement or Lean is preferred.
