Clinical Imaging Scientist – Principal Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee intricate imaging deliverables for designated clinical trials.

• Direct imaging strategy for around 15–25 global clinical trials spanning early- and late-stage development across various therapeutic areas.

• Provide daily leadership and supervision of key imaging deliverables.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, imaging vendors, and specialty providers to ensure effective execution of clinical-trial imaging components.

• Cultivate and sustain subject matter expertise in specific disease areas.

• Design and propose imaging strategies, standards, and improvements in processes.

• Address complex scientific and technical challenges related to imaging.

• Develop, implement, and manage imaging strategies effectively.

• Offer operational oversight of imaging processes and design methodologies and standards.

• Author significant imaging-related documents and study deliverables.

• Work collaboratively across departments to enhance imaging capabilities and operational efficiency.

• Assess emerging technologies, imaging methodologies, and supporting systems.

• Collaborate with Quality and Compliance on quality decisions, vendor management, and audits.

• Provide regulatory-facing imaging expertise for interactions with health authorities, filings, and regulatory strategies.

• Represent the organization at scientific meetings, industry forums, and professional organizations.

• Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives aimed at process improvement, innovation, and organizational effectiveness.

• Utilize enterprise-approved digital, data, and AI tools, including automation and data-driven methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or a higher level of education is required.

• At least 10 years of experience in supporting clinical development within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or clinical research sectors.

• Strong understanding of medical imaging applications in clinical trials for efficacy and safety evaluations.

• Experience acting as the primary imaging subject matter expert for clinical studies.

• Proficient in authoring and reviewing clinical imaging operational and scientific documents that support imaging endpoints and assessments.

• Capability to resolve complex scientific and operational imaging issues.

• Experience in developing, assessing, and refining imaging strategies that support clinical development plans.

• Ability to apply scientific judgment to intricate imaging-related clinical trial challenges and risks.

• Experience in advancing imaging standards, process enhancements, technology assessments, or strategic initiatives.

• Experience in supporting regulatory submissions, health authority interactions, and imaging-related drug filings.

• Working knowledge of enterprise-approved digital, data, and AI tools.

• Must achieve Global Clinical Trial Operations (GCTO) Elevate – Beginner status within the first 6 months and progress to the appropriate tier annually.

• Preferred: certification, training, or professional experience in clinical imaging modalities.

• Preferred: experience as a radiologic technologist, at an imaging CRO, imaging core laboratory, or pharmaceutical sponsor.

• Preferred: experience managing external imaging vendors, imaging core laboratories, and specialty service providers.

• Preferred: experience advising cross-functional study teams on imaging strategies.

• Preferred: understanding of emerging imaging technologies, quantitative imaging methods, and industry trends.
