Senior Research Scientist – Reconstruction Physics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.

📋 Description

• Design, prototype, and assess innovative algorithms for the reconstruction and analysis of medical images.

• Lead autonomous research projects while working in collaboration with clinical, engineering, and product teams.

• Utilize physics-based modeling, numerical optimization, and statistical techniques to tackle complex imaging challenges.

• Create high-quality, production-ready code to validate and showcase research concepts.

• Foster innovation beyond conventional methods and introduce new strategies to the field.

• Present findings through internal presentations, technical documentation, and publications for external audiences.

• Remain updated with advancements in academia and industry, integrating pertinent techniques into research activities.

• Contribute to the development of next-generation medical imaging algorithms, particularly in quantitative nuclear medicine and 3D reconstruction techniques.

⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced degree with over 3 years of experience in biomedical engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or a related discipline.

• A robust background in medical imaging algorithms, especially PET, SPECT, CT, or similar modalities.

• Proficiency in image reconstruction techniques.

• A solid foundation in numerical methods, inverse problems, and statistical modeling.

• Capability to lead and execute independent research endeavors.

• Expertise in Python, C/C++, or equivalent scientific programming environments.

• Proficient in Monte Carlo simulation and physics-based modeling.

• Experience with nuclear medicine or quantitative imaging physics or reconstruction related to radiopharmaceuticals.

• Understanding of machine learning / AI techniques applied in imaging.

• Ability to develop and implement algorithms within a product or translational research environment.

• A publication record in peer-reviewed journals or conferences.

• Experience in mentoring or providing technical leadership to fellow researchers.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States; GE HealthCare will not sponsor employment visas.
