Chief Risk Officer – CRO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and develop the comprehensive enterprise risk management framework for MoonPay, which includes policies, procedures, controls, and risk governance structures.

• Establish and put into action the company’s risk appetite framework, ensuring it aligns with global regulatory standards and best practices concerning safety and soundness.

• Spearhead risk-related interactions with regulators and external stakeholders across various jurisdictions, ensuring consistent and effective communication regarding MoonPay’s risk posture.

• Design and implement risk systems, as well as reporting and monitoring, across both financial and non-financial risk domains.

• Serve as a senior partner to executive leadership (including Legal, Compliance, Security, and Finance) while maintaining the independence of the risk function.

• Build, scale, and lead a high-performing global risk team, which includes hiring, mentoring, and establishing operational rhythms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 15 years of experience in risk leadership positions within financial services, fintech, or other highly regulated sectors, with a background in building or transforming risk functions.

• A proven history as a builder and executor — you have developed frameworks, led remediation or transformation initiatives, and successfully delivered under regulatory oversight.

• In-depth knowledge of enterprise risk management, controls, governance, and regulatory requirements across various jurisdictions.

• Comfortable operating in high-ambiguity, rapidly scaling environments, possessing the judgment to balance innovation with suitable risk tolerance.

• Strong operational mindset with the credibility to challenge senior stakeholders while effectively collaborating across the organization.

• Solid technical proficiency across key financial and non-financial risk areas (e.g., market, credit, liquidity, operational, and technology risk).
