This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the leading technical authority at Legion for intricate architecture, system design, and platform advancement.
• Engage directly with code, design documents, production incidents, performance issues, and implementation trade-offs to identify root causes and steer technical direction.
• Take charge of critical technical decisions regarding AI systems, optimization engines, distributed systems, data architecture, reliability, scalability, security, and platform modernization.
• Create prototypes, reference implementations, architecture decision records, technical specifications, and design patterns as necessary to assist teams and provide clear guidance.
• Make significant technical decisions with limited information, balancing factors such as accuracy, simplicity, speed, scalability, reliability, cost, and long-term maintainability.
• Address architectural drift, unnecessary complexity, weak abstractions, and short-term choices that pose long-term risks to the platform.
• Collaborate directly with Staff, Principal, and senior engineering leaders in design reviews, code discussions, and implementation strategies.
• Define and manage the long-term architecture for Legion’s AI-driven Workforce Management platform, encompassing application services, data infrastructure, ML systems, optimization engines, APIs, integration architecture, developer platforms, and enterprise-scale operations.
• Set engineering-wide standards for system design, scalability, performance, reliability, extensibility, observability, security, and maintainability.
• Ensure that Legion’s architecture facilitates enterprise configurability and extensibility while preventing uncontrolled customization or product fragmentation.
• Over 15 years of experience in building and scaling large-scale software systems.
• Proven success in designing and scaling mission-critical, multi-tenant SaaS platforms for enterprise clients.
• Extensive hands-on experience with large-scale distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, data platforms, APIs, event-driven systems, platform engineering, and high-availability production settings.
• Demonstrated capability to function as a hands-on technical leader, effectively engaging in code-level and design-level discussions with senior engineers.
• Experience making significant architectural decisions for systems that require high scalability, high reliability, complex domain logic, and long product lifecycles.
• Background in incrementally modernizing large production systems while ensuring uptime, backward compatibility, customer trust, and engineering efficiency.
• Experience in building or supporting AI, ML, optimization, decision-making, forecasting, or data-intensive products in live environments.
• Strong grasp of observability, incident response, performance engineering, reliability architecture, capacity planning, and operational excellence.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to engineering teams, executives, customers, and cross-functional partners.
