This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop high-quality character rigs featuring realistic and production-ready deformations for both humans and creatures.
• Skin and integrate character meshes into the game engine, ensuring optimal performance and visual integrity.
• Work collaboratively with animators, character artists, designers, and technical artists to produce assets that align with project quality requirements and production timelines.
• Design, maintain, and enhance rigging systems, workflows, and pipeline tools to improve team productivity.
• Diagnose and resolve rigging, skinning, and animation integration challenges throughout the production process.
• Optimize rigs for in-game performance while maintaining high animation quality.
• Develop and uphold clear technical documentation for rigging tools, workflows, and industry best practices.
• Play a role in establishing and maintaining rigging standards and enhancing pipeline efficiency across the project.
• Over 6 years of professional experience as a Technical Animator or Character Rigging Artist in the video game sector, ideally on next-generation projects.
• Proficient in Autodesk MotionBuilder and Autodesk Maya, with substantial experience in creating production-ready character rigs and supporting animation workflows.
• Advanced scripting capabilities in Python and MEL for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of animation and rigging tools in both Maya and MotionBuilder.
• Experience delivering technical DCC support for animation and rigging tools, troubleshooting production challenges, and optimizing artist workflows.
• Solid experience with Unreal Engine, including character integration and animation pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability to design, construct, and sustain scalable character rigging pipelines and production workflows.
• Strong comprehension of character deformation, skinning, and animation systems.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, capable of identifying technical issues and formulating practical, efficient solutions.
• Self-driven, inquisitive, and proactive with a strong passion for research, ongoing learning, and exploring innovative techniques and technologies.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, enabling effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
