Character Performance Animator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead the development and implementation of performance animation for pivotal story sequences and interactive cinematics, managing facial performances, dialogue scenes, and action-driven animations to guarantee emotional authenticity and cinematic excellence.

• Work closely with Art, Design, and Engineering teams to create and uphold production pipelines and quality benchmarks for performance animation, ensuring uniformity in character emotions and visual storytelling.

• Establish production guidelines and animation standards for facial performances, dialogue scenes, and character acting, promoting scalable and effective content creation workflows while consistently enhancing quality and productivity.

• Utilize expertise from the film and gaming sectors to streamline motion capture and keyframe animation workflows, address technical challenges, and elevate the overall quality and expressiveness of character performances.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Animation, Film, Directing, Digital Media Arts, or similar fields is preferred.

• Over 3 years of experience as an Animation Director, Action Director, Performance Animator, or a similar role within the film or gaming industry. Candidates should provide portfolio samples demonstrating both action-oriented and nuanced dramatic performances.

• Profound knowledge of cinematic language, character acting, and emotional storytelling. Capability to independently deliver high-quality performances, including facial animation, dialogue scenes, and action-driven sequences.

• Expertise in motion capture data processing, keyframe animation, and in-engine performance integration. Ability to tackle technical challenges throughout the animation production pipeline.

• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication abilities, with a talent for working effectively with Art, Design, and Engineering teams to enhance production standards and pipeline execution.

• A strong industrialized production mindset. Experience in establishing animation standards, optimizing workflows, and improving team-wide delivery quality is highly desirable.

• Capacity to excel in a fast-paced production setting. Previous experience in film production studios or cinematic teams is advantageous.
