Chaplin, Spiritual Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Provide direct spiritual support to patients and their families, while coordinating care with community chaplains and counselors.

• Conduct spiritual assessments and assist in developing each patient’s personalized care plan.

• Act as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary team by participating in care conferences and offering insights on spiritual issues.

• Record visits and maintain documentation that supports quality assurance, compliance, and ongoing improvement.

• Establish connections with local congregations to recruit and support chaplains, counselors, and volunteers.

• Officiate funeral and memorial services for patients upon request, and organize periodic memorials for staff, volunteers, and community partners.

• Assist in supervising spiritual care volunteers who are assigned to patients and families.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess a graduate degree from an accredited seminary or theological school (M.Div., B.D., or equivalent).

• Experience in providing support to individuals and families during end-of-life situations.

• Display comfort and genuine openness in interfaith environments, embracing all lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.

• Exhibit a collaborative spirit and the ability to excel within an interdisciplinary team.

• Have strong connections, or a desire to cultivate them, with community clergy and congregations.

• Show a commitment to the hospice philosophy of care.

• Hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable, insured vehicle.

• Previous hospice experience is a plus.
