This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Acts as a messenger and advocate for faith, mission, and purpose.

• Engages with companies, their employees, and the broader community in a way that demonstrates character through personal and spiritual practices.

• Conducts regular visits to company worksites (typically on a weekly basis) to engage with employees and cultivate relationships based on trust and friendship, driven by Christian faith.

• Provides support to employees or their immediate family members in various settings including hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, private residences, and other locations where care can be offered.

• May offer confidential pastoral conversations on issues affecting employees and their immediate families, encompassing topics such as family dynamics, divorce, serious health concerns, elder care, bereavement, parenting, financial challenges, debt discussions, budgeting, and other life-related stressors.

• Facilitates referral services and coordinates specialized assistance for employees and/or their immediate family members facing specific needs.

• May assist with the planning and conducting of funerals for employees or their immediate family members, providing follow-up support and encouragement during the grieving process.

• May visit employees and their immediate family members in jail.

• Collaborates with companies to notify families and affected employees of deaths and serious injuries, offering support to those impacted by various tragedies.

• May provide post-termination support for laid-off or terminated employees to ensure a smooth transition to new employment opportunities.

• May facilitate, but not lead, spiritual enrichment activities, as employee-sponsored and led initiatives are typically more effective than those led by a chaplain.

• Provides relevant literature and resources to assist company employees with various life challenges, as deemed appropriate or requested.

• Represents companies to clients/customers in contexts where ministry services are relevant (e.g., serious illness, accidents, traumatic events, and funerals).

• Participates in new employee orientation to introduce the Employee Care Service and explain the role of the Chaplain Team.

• With the permission of the Executive Director of Operations (EDO), responds positively and proactively to additional duties and services requested by company executives, within the framework of the Letter of Agreement between MCHAP Chaplains and the company.

• Ability to effectively manage interactions with family members and staff during stressful situations.

• Ability to manage stressful situations and document accurately according to standards.

• Spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian lifestyle aligned with MCHAP's Ministry values.

• Integrates Christian values and beliefs into daily activities and job responsibilities.

• Possesses a foundational understanding of the Holy Bible and its appropriate application.

• Affirms a saving faith in Jesus Christ and actively participates in a biblically-based church.

• Proven ability to interact with professionalism, diplomacy, patience, and courtesy across diverse groups, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships while delivering exceptional customer service.

• Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments concerning sensitive, confidential matters.

• Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with leadership, colleagues, employees, and families.

• Ability to maintain emotional stability in coping with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.

• Demonstrated skill in analyzing information to identify and follow up on problems or objectives.

• Ability to identify solutions and resolve issues.

• Demonstrated skill in interpreting policies and procedures relevant to the position and keeping others informed.

• Proficient in using Google Suites, Microsoft Office, or equivalent software, as well as internet, email messaging, and web-based applications.

• Ability to understand and learn new technology programs.

• Must possess a valid state driver’s license and state minimum auto insurance (in the state(s) where services are provided to clients).
