This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Accurately assign CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes for all services rendered at BHC facilities.

• Utilize appropriate modifiers based on payer and service specifications.

• Ensure documentation aligns with medical necessity, procedural complexity, and service levels.

• Implement correct diagnosis sequencing and body-part specificity needed for WC claims.

• Uphold WC-specific documentation standards, which include injury dates, causality, and narratives from treating physicians.

• Work collaboratively with billing teams to confirm that claim formats, attachments, and WC payer regulations are adhered to.

• Maintain coding compliance with CMS, AMA, NCCI, and OIG guidelines.

• Engage in both internal and external coding audits, executing corrective measures as required.

• Recognize coding trends that may lead to denials, underpayments, or compliance risks.

• Offer constructive feedback and training to providers to enhance documentation and coding precision.

• Evaluate all coding-related holds for Boomerang Health Care to guarantee consistency and compliance in documentation for suitable reimbursement.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as necessary to fulfill the position and meet organizational demands.


⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• An active coding certification is required: CPC, CCS, or equivalent (AAPC or AHIMA).

• A minimum of 3-5 years of medical coding experience in pain management and workers’ compensation billing is essential.

• Proven experience with FRP or multidisciplinary rehabilitation models, as well as Commercial and Medicare pain management coding.

• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced setting, meet daily deadlines, and collaborate with cross-functional RCM teams.

• Familiarity with various EHR/Practice Management systems (IMS, Nextgen, Athena, eClinicalWorks, or comparable systems).

• Basic knowledge of NCCI edits and payer-specific billing protocols.

• Strong accuracy and attention to detail, along with analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to integrity and compliance.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables) and solid skills in other Microsoft Office applications.

• Candidates must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, or Washington.

• Work schedule is Monday-Friday, from 8am to 5pm, totaling 40 hours.
