This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop, curate, and implement category strategies that align with company objectives, enhancing product offerings within assigned categories.
• Take ownership of the category P&L and engage in negotiations to achieve revenue, profit, SKU productivity, quality, and food waste reduction targets.
• Foster vendor relationships, prioritizing competitive pricing, product quality, and timely delivery while assisting in negotiations and process enhancements.
• Conduct research to uncover trends, competitor strategies, and consumer preferences, delivering actionable insights to inform category decisions.
• Collaborate with Operations, Logistics, Marketing, Product Development, and IT to execute category strategies and ensure team alignment.
• Advocate for sustainability initiatives within the category, aiming to minimize food waste and identify improvement opportunities.
• Contribute to significant projects related to category growth and process enhancements, ensuring effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Work alongside product development teams to pinpoint new product opportunities driven by customer needs and market trends.
• Report directly to the Sr. Director of Category Management, aiding in the execution of strategic objectives and key initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in the industry is required.
• Preferred 5-7 years of experience in grocery retail or grocery sourcing.
• Experience in eCommerce or organic/natural food is an advantage.
• Proven buying experience with strong negotiation skills.
• Long-term strategic and financial planning capabilities with a solid grasp of P&L statements, general ledgers, and margins.
• Strong knowledge of the food industry with established relationships.
• Ability to adapt to a startup environment and a willingness to learn new programs and systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
• Quick thinker, able to make informed decisions promptly.
• Proficient in G-Suite, Excel, Word, and Retail Math is required.
