This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +23 more states.
• Designs and coordinates the plotting and mapping while determining the requirements for fiber node placement in hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) and fiber optic networks.
• Prepares and supports detailed engineering and design drawing files utilizing CAD or other spatial and Geographic Information software platforms.
• Collaborates with Technical Operations, Construction, and Engineering to facilitate design and engineering services.
• Offers design support within a specified area or region.
• Updates As-Built documentation as construction is finalized and the area is released.
• Conducts base drafting activities.
• Produces accurate network maps and comprehensive electronic construction prints.
• Develops layouts, drawings, and designs in accordance with engineering specifications.
• Makes design decisions concerning construction and safety methodologies adhering to relevant Cable One, FCC, OSHA, NEC, NESC, VDOT, BOCA, Land Use Manual, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations and procedures.
• May be tasked with the creation of design permitting for state agencies.
• May carry out quality checks of mapping and network design, as well as negotiate or approve design and/or construction modifications.
• May estimate material and labor costs for specialized projects involving fiber and coax leading up to the patch panel or customer premises.
• May be responsible for checking fiber availability and ring capacity while determining reinforcement needs.
• May coordinate project planning and site surveys with sales staff, utility companies, engineers of commercial buildings, contractors, utility locators, state and county representatives, and company crews as needed, including designing services for new and existing residential properties and commercial establishments.
• Up to two years of relevant experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Completion of the Systems Technician course.
• Completion of the NCTI Fiber Testing & Maintenance course and the Cable One Technical Training Center system course (if applicable).
