This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Establish a strong collaborative relationship with the college advisor to function as a cohesive support team for applicants.
• Assess high school students’ eligibility for BS/MD programs based on GPA, SAT/ACT scores, coursework, extracurricular activities, and experiences.
• Revise BS/MD personal statements and supplemental essays.
• Work alongside applicants to develop tailored BS/MD school lists that reflect their candidacy, aspirations, and preferences.
• Prepare students for admissions interviews.
• Guide students throughout the application journey via regular check-ins, editing, and management of timelines and deadlines.
• Manage family expectations and engage families in supporting the student.
• Assist students in cultivating personal responsibility and managing their tasks.
• Offer expertise and advice on application-related questions and scenarios.
• Handle multiple clients simultaneously until their package or service is completed, potentially over the course of a year.
• Deliver comprehensive support and provide constructive, age-appropriate feedback.
• Foster trusting and positive relationships with students and their families.
• MD or DO physician; attending preferred, with residents and fellows considered.
• Successful completion of a U.S. direct medical program: BS/MD, BA/MD, BS/DO, or BA/DO is required.
• Direct experience with the BS/MD or BS/DO admissions process.
• Background in mentoring or advising students applying to medical school or direct medical programs.
• Experience on an admissions committee is highly preferred.
• Strong editing and writing abilities, especially with college and BS/MD application materials.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the capacity to build trust with high school students and their families.
• High emotional intelligence and professionalism.
• Ability to manage multiple students during an application cycle.
• Proficiency in Zoom, Google Meet, and other online collaboration platforms.
• Reliable Internet connection is necessary.
• Access to Microsoft Word is required.
• Willingness to commit to clients until their package or service is fully completed, potentially for over a year.
• Capability to work with multiple clients at the same time.
• Sensitivity to the emotional needs of students and their families.
• Ability to offer age-appropriate, constructive feedback and guidance.
