• Maintain and oversee financial documentation, which encompasses general ledger accounts, journals, and financial statements.
• Manage media-specific financial responsibilities such as royalty payments, talent fees, production expenses, and project-oriented accounting.
• Create, track, and manage organizational budgets for media initiatives, including monitoring expenditures and predicting future costs.
• Supervise the complete cycle of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring prompt payments and collections while managing cash flow effectively.
• Administer payroll operations, including payments to media personnel, contractors, and freelancers, ensuring adherence to employment laws and contractual obligations.
• Execute regular reconciliations of bank statements, media production costs, and other financial transactions to guarantee accuracy and consistency.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, addressing media-related tax matters such as sales tax on media assets and withholding taxes on talent payments.
• Apply project-based accounting methodologies for precise tracking of revenues and expenses associated with individual media projects.
• Generate comprehensive financial reports, including profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, and balance sheets, for both media projects and the overall company performance.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and ensuring adherence to accounting standards and media industry regulations.
• Evaluate financial performance by identifying trends and advising management on cost-saving measures and strategies to enhance financial efficiency in media projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
• Over 5 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, particularly within the media sector.
• In-depth knowledge of media production accounting, including royalty payments, talent fees, and project-specific accounting practices.
• Familiarity with US GAAP.
• Experience in creating and analyzing financial reports.
• Proficient with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and financial tools specific to the media industry.
• Demonstrated experience in managing budgets and financial operations for media projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Capacity to perform under pressure and handle multiple media projects concurrently.
• Skilled in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting applications.
• Understanding of financial regulations and tax compliance within the media industry.
• Experience with accounting practices for digital media assets, streaming services, or television production.
• Knowledge of international financial regulations pertaining to the media industry.
