Biological R&D Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and analyze experiments focused on antigen expression, purification, characterization, adjuvant selection, and formulation, with increased independence at higher levels.

• Execute essential molecular biology, microbiology, and cell culture techniques, including PCR, cloning, Western blot, and ELISA.

• Conduct and develop immunological assays at senior levels, such as SNT, VN, HI, ELISA, ELISpot, multiplex cytokine assays, and FACS.

• Assist or lead in vitro/in vivo safety and efficacy assessments, encompassing vaccination-challenge trials.

• Uphold GLP-compliant laboratory documentation; prepare reagents, media, and challenge materials.

• Contribute to the USDA Outline of Production, license applications, study reports, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), with roles as author or reviser at levels III/IV.

• Collaborate with Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, and present findings both internally and externally at levels III/IV.

• Provide mentorship to junior staff regarding techniques and compliance at levels III/IV.

⛳️ Requirements

• B.S. degree in Microbiology, Immunology, Virology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline; M.S. or Ph.D. preferred for higher-level positions; refer to Level Guide for experience requirements by level.

• Practical experience in molecular biology and cell culture techniques, with familiarity in ELISA, Western blot, and/or animal handling.

• Excellent attention to detail, data integrity, and communication skills; must be team-oriented.

• Experience with target animal species (cattle, swine, equine, aquaculture) is preferred; knowledge of USDA CVB/GLP/GMP standards, USDA 9 CFR regulations, recombinant/vector/nucleic-acid vaccine platforms, and IACUC guidelines (III/IV); publications are a plus (IV).
