This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver scientific expertise in the analysis of HIV sequences, including pairwise genetic distance methodologies, phylogenetics, phylodynamics, and cluster detection logic, while ensuring the quality of sequence data, analytic validation, and scientific testing.
• Review, evaluate, and authorize suggested modifications to analytic methodologies, cluster detection logic, and bioinformatics workflows.
• Validate analytic results, algorithms, and software improvements through scientific testing, benchmarking, and quality assurance processes.
• Design and manage strategies for synthetic, test, and validation datasets.
• Assess the quality of sequence data and analytic performance, pinpoint issues, and propose corrective measures.
• Provide guidance on the modernization, optimization, and scalability of bioinformatics pipelines and computational workflows.
• Facilitate the adoption of innovative methods, technologies, and best practices.
• A Master's degree accompanied by 3 years of pertinent experience, or a PhD.
• A degree in bioinformatics, epidemiology, public health, or a related discipline is mandatory.
• Proficiency in utilizing computational tools to detect potential HIV transmission clusters from genetic sequence data.
• Experience in developing, validating, and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines for HIV or other infectious disease sequence data.
• Background in research, surveillance, or public health settings.
• Familiarity with phylogenetic and phylodynamic methodologies.
• Capability to interpret analyses of transmission clusters, findings in molecular epidemiology, and approaches based on genetic distance.
• Experience working collaboratively with epidemiologists, software developers, data scientists, and public health stakeholders.
• Skill in translating scientific requirements into analytic solutions and system improvements.
