This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Oversee one to three sites, being accountable for all on-site activities related to operations and maintenance.
• Attain a comprehensive understanding of the site(s) operations and be prepared to discuss operational status at any given time.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of site issues, prioritizing them based on safety, site performance, and additional considerations.
• Actively participate as a member of the Plus Power team, addressing problems and engaging management early to mitigate potential site-limiting issues.
• Collaborate with the Director of Field Operations to create a proactive schedule for site work.
• Ensure adherence to current safety and electrical policies to protect the health and safety of staff and visitors.
• Conduct quality and safety audits on the maintenance activities of field technicians.
• Provide updates regarding site maintenance, covering both planned and unplanned activities.
• Identify and promptly report critical issues to maximize uptime, facilitate successful energy market operations, and ensure compliance with stakeholder contracts.
• Support field O&M providers with maintenance and complex repair tasks.
• Oversee the effective scheduling and coordination of maintenance and repair efforts.
• Facilitate quick responses to site communication and plant/equipment control failures with the trading team, remote operations, EMS suppliers, and asset managers.
• Offer technical support to onsite technicians and other vendors.
• Ensure the creation of service work orders for necessary corrective repairs and follow through until completion.
• Maintain up-to-date daily records to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Ensure that preventative maintenance tasks are scheduled correctly according to contractual obligations and seasonal constraints.
• Identify any additional services required and take appropriate actions to address facility needs.
• Determine root causes of underperforming systems with assistance from performance engineering and the O&M field team.
• Manage overtime for the field team while generally remaining within contracted services.
• Coordinate all activities between site management and O&M providers.
• Ensure timely and complete filing of Warranty Claims as necessary, managing warranty work to completion.
• Travel up to 60% for fieldwork, onsite supervision, or to support other Field Managers during planned or emergency outages.
• Coordinate the monthly outage plan with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Responsible for site safety, including pre-job JHAs and other relevant documentation.
• Expected to collaborate with the Director of EHS on best practices and align with site safety requirements.
• Ensure compliance with ERCOT Weatherization guidelines.
• Work with Asset Managers to uphold all contractual commitments to key stakeholders and O&M contractors.
• Collaborate with Asset Managers to ensure that onsite work remains within the approved project budget.
• This position primarily involves managing third parties responsible for maintenance and repairs rather than performing hands-on work.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or five years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• At least two years of direct experience in BESS and/or Solar site operations preferred.
• Strong understanding of safe industrial work practices and a commitment to site safety.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, contractors, landowners, and others.
• Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in working within cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Electrical, Inverter, and BESS certifications or licenses are preferred.
• HV electrical certification or experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings.
• Experienced in electrical isolation (LOTO) procedures for both low and high voltage equipment.
• Experience in leading and managing teams both locally and remotely.
• Flexible working hours and willingness to travel to remote locations is required.
• Valid driver's license is necessary.
• Capability to lift 30 lbs and work comfortably from a ladder.
• Ability to walk long distances for site inspections.
• Competent in operating forklifts and other small, motorized equipment.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Able to respond to their site in a timely manner.
• Ideally located between Austin and San Antonio or near Midland, Texas.
