This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• A proactive individual who will conduct their own research, engage in cold-calling, outreach, arrange meetings, manage the consultative sales cycle, and convert accounts in the Direct-to-Utility sector.
• Build and sustain robust relationships with key stakeholders.
• Formulate and implement business development strategies to reach FlexGen’s revenue objectives and market penetration targets.
• Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, including market trends, emerging technologies, and customer requirements.
• Create and present persuasive sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients, collaborating with internal teams to develop and submit successful proposals.
• Negotiate intricate contracts and agreements with potential clients to secure business partnerships.
• Collaborate across FlexGen teams to ensure the success of business development initiatives.
• Travel to customer and project locations (~50+).
• Proven experience in business development with utility companies within the distributed energy sector.
• A strong record of meeting sales targets.
• Established relationships are essential.
• Comprehensive understanding of the utility sector and industry trends.
• Ability to leverage AI-driven tools and workflows to enhance processes, automate tasks, and boost overall performance.
• Experience in electric power, renewable energy (solar, wind, and battery), industrial communication, or electrical services.
• Proficient in effective communication in both formal and informal settings, whether internally or with customers.
• Strong skills in conflict resolution and problem-solving.
• A minimum of a BS degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 2 years in sales or business development.
• Preferred exposure to commercial energy negotiations, electricity market/resource planning analysis, and/or strategies for new market entry.
• Experience in customer management.
• Familiarity with the power industry, battery storage, power converters, power system design, and/or battery energy storage controls.
• High proficiency in Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and customer resource management software (e.g., salesforce.com).
