Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the architectural and data foundations for the backend.

• Advance the layered backend architecture (controller, service, data-access, repository).

• Create schemas for both PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

• Manage the API surface (REST endpoints, real-time streams, RPC contracts).

• Optimize query and pipeline performance.

• Enhance the serverless layer (AWS Lambda).

• Elevate the engineering standards through code reviews and comprehensive design documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in developing production backend services.

• Extensive, hands-on experience with databases, both relational and document stores, in a production environment.

• Proficient in SQL (especially PostgreSQL), schema design, indexing, query optimization, and migrations.

• Strong skills in TypeScript and Node.js (Express or similar).

• Knowledge of API contract design: REST principles (validation, error handling, pagination, idempotency).

• Comfortable managing asynchronous tasks outside of the request path.

• Strong commitment to testing, including integration tests against real databases.

• Excellent written communication skills.
