Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Architect and develop essential backend services utilizing Spring Boot that drive our AI-focused platform.

• Design and implement a thorough monitoring, alerting, and observability infrastructure integrating Prometheus and Grafana.

• Configure and manage AWS scaling strategies to secure system reliability and optimize costs.

• Construct distributed systems utilizing message queues and streaming platforms (SQS, Kafka, Kinesis) to handle high-volume asynchronous workloads.

• Implement strong data reliability strategies, including redundancy, failure management, and disaster recovery processes.

• Design and refine LLM integration pipelines, encompassing prompt engineering, usage monitoring, and quality assurance protocols.

• Establish security best practices through Spring Security, implement RBAC, and ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations.

• Model and enhance intricate clinical and operational workflows, converting domain requirements into well-structured, maintainable backend processes.

• Make foundational technical decisions that will support our transition from startup to industry leader.

• Collaborate closely with founders and clinical teams to translate healthcare requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Own significant product features from architecture through to deployment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience.

• In-depth expertise in the Spring Boot framework and Java ecosystem for developing production-level applications.

• Proficient in monitoring and observability tools, specifically Prometheus and Grafana, for creating dashboards and alerts.

• Strong background in AWS services, including the provisioning and management of auto-scaling policies, EC2, and ECS/EKS.

• Proven experience in architecting scalable distributed systems using message queues and streaming platforms (SQS, Kafka, Kinesis).

• Experience in implementing data reliability patterns, including redundancy, circuit breakers, retry mechanisms, and effective failure handling.

• Hands-on experience with LLM technologies, including prompt engineering, usage monitoring, and quality metrics.

• Strong security engineering background with Spring Security, implementing RBAC, and adhering to healthcare compliance standards.

• Experience in process modeling and translating complex domain workflows into backend logic.

• Demonstrated ability to build systems capable of managing asynchronous workloads at scale.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and microservices patterns.

• Ability to excel in a dynamic startup environment.
