Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain backend services for production utilizing Python.

• Create APIs that facilitate customer-facing applications and AI processes.

• Construct scalable relational data models with PostgreSQL.

• Establish integrations with model providers, client systems, and external platforms.

• Formulate systems for asynchronous tasks, event processing, and prolonged AI workflows.

• Deploy and manage services through AWS.

• Troubleshoot production issues across application, data, model, and infrastructure layers.

• Contribute to the evolution of backend architecture and engineering methodologies as the organization expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Roughly 2–9 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Robust professional expertise in Python.

• Experience in designing and managing production APIs or backend services.

• Strong comprehension of relational databases, SQL, and data modeling.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL or a similar production database.

• Knowledge of AWS, GCP, or another significant cloud platform.

• Grasp of application security, authentication, and authorization.

• Experience in debugging and managing systems in a production setting.

• Capability to independently lead technical projects from conception to deployment.

• Comfort in making practical engineering decisions in a startup environment.

• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

• Nice to have (not required):

• Experience in developing AI, LLM, agent, or machine-learning infrastructure.

• Experience with integrating OpenAI, Anthropic, or other model providers.

• Familiarity with LLM evaluation, retrieval, embeddings, or vector databases.

• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or CI/CD systems.

• Experience with Redis, Kafka, queues, or event-driven architectures.

• Background in creating multi-tenant SaaS products.

• Previous experience in an early-stage startup.

• Experience with data-intensive or distributed systems.
