Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• We are constructing the core of our platform — a central API for financial data that powers all our applications.

• Your contributions will ensure that intricate data streams from various sources converge into a unified, dependable, and swift foundation for new product development.

• Design and implement a central API that aggregates financial data and assets (such as stocks, ETFs, etc.) from multiple sources, ensuring consistent availability.

• Create endpoints that elegantly simplify financial and mathematical complexities, laying the groundwork for our applications and websites.

• Guarantee that the API delivers a premier developer and product experience for our internal teams and applications — stable, high-performing, and user-friendly.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across the stack — your proximity to the product will help maintain a solid foundation.

• Continuously enhance our engineering standards, tools, and processes.

• Collaborate closely with frontend, design, and product teams to transform the API into impactful user experiences — with speed and enthusiasm.

• Enhance Parqet's existing services and technology stack.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of experience in developing and managing backends and APIs in a production environment.

• A passion for API design — you conceptualize clear interfaces and thoughtfully designed data models.

• Strong proficiency in Python or Node.js (+ TypeScript), along with experience in technologies like MongoDB, ClickHouse, Redis, or Kafka.

• High expectations for the stability, reliability, and performance of production systems.

• Capability to deliver projects from start to finish and complete them successfully — even when multiple technologies and services are involved.

• Enjoy collaboration with product, design, and frontend teams to turn your API into tangible user experiences.

• A strong focus on documentation, testing, and monitoring.

• Proficient communication skills in both German and English, with clarity and precision.
