Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain our backend infrastructure.

• Supervise the development and upkeep of our GraphQL API to ensure it satisfies the requirements of both frontend clients.

• Oversee deployments within a Kubernetes environment on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

• Guarantee the reliability and scalability of our applications.

• Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and QA to deliver top-notch features.

• Promote effective communication and collaboration within the team.

• Take the initiative to generate and implement product enhancements based on business and user requirements.

• Encourage an inclusive workplace, working effectively with team members from various cultural backgrounds.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in backend engineering.

• Proficient in Ruby; familiarity with functional programming patterns is highly desirable.

• Advanced knowledge of SQL / PostgreSQL.

• Experience in developing GraphQL APIs.

• Comfortable with DevOps principles, including deployments, Kubernetes, and GCP.

• AI-native; you actively incorporate AI tools (such as Claude, Cursor, etc.) into your daily development routines, treating them as essential rather than optional.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (C1+ level).

• Product-oriented, proactive, and capable of working across diverse cultures.

• Experience with Roda, Sequel, or dry-rb is a significant advantage.

• A background in e-commerce, creator economy, or marketplace products is a notable plus.
