Backend Engineer, Analytics Instrumentation – Golang

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and sustain a cohesive Go-based instrumentation service that integrates instrumentation throughout the organization, removing the necessity for multiple language-specific SDKs while ensuring reliability and performance.

• Oversee the sending, transit, and quality management of instrumentation data across the system, safeguarding data integrity that significantly affects the company's prioritization and usage billing accuracy.

• Educate and assist product development teams across the organization on utilizing the unified service for feature instrumentation, offering documentation, guidance, and technical support.

• Handle on-call responsibilities during business hours for systems related to usage billing and instrumentation, ensuring system reliability and prompt responses to critical issues.

• Collaborate with research and development teams and the enterprise data organization to identify requirements and provide solutions that cater to multiple stakeholders.

• Make essential architectural choices that balance the needs of product teams (who require ease of use) with data consumers (who demand reliability and accuracy), ensuring the system functions as a foundational service for the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Expertise in the Go programming language, along with experience in building and maintaining production services.

• Robust backend development experience, with the capability to design scalable, reliable systems that serve both internal and external customers.

• Familiarity with infrastructure aspects such as system reliability, performance at scale, data quality, and observability.

• Experience in designing and constructing APIs (REST, gRPC, or similar) that other teams utilize.

• Proven experience working within cross-functional teams alongside product teams, data consumers, and other internal stakeholders across team boundaries.

• Background in instrumentation, analytics, data systems, or comparable foundational infrastructure within application environments like Ruby on Rails or similar stacks.
