Backend Developer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

📋 Description

• You will be part of the Messaging Platform team, which is central to our product, focusing on the backend systems that support partner and client APIs, the WhatsApp channel lifecycle, billing processes, integrations, and more.

• This role transcends mere ticket management; you will take ownership of domains, influence architectural design, and witness the direct effects of your decisions in a production environment.

• Our development process utilizes Python across services that prioritize correctness, observability, and maintainability, rather than just speed. You will collaborate with a small, seasoned team and a technology-oriented leadership that values in-depth understanding over superficial speed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound knowledge of Python, not just a broad familiarity.

• You have a deep understanding of the language's runtime model, including async internals, memory management, typing, and packaging. You can differentiate between knowing the syntax and comprehending the system.

• Experience in backend systems.

• Familiarity with REST and async APIs, PostgreSQL (including schema design and query performance, not merely ORM usage), message queues, workers, and service-to-service integration.

• A mentality of domain ownership.

• You take genuine responsibility for your deliverables, grasping the business context behind a feature rather than just the ticket description. You monitor your work from development through to production and care about the outcomes post-merge.

• Structured thinking amidst complexity.

• You decompose ambiguous problems into well-defined, risk-informed iterations. You can pinpoint the 20% of effort that yields 80% of the value and communicate that effectively to your peers.

• Clear and calibrated communication skills.

• You compose succinct Slack messages rather than lengthy essays. You adjust your explanations based on the audience, raise blockers early, and ask pointed questions instead of remaining silent for days.

• Self-awareness regarding skill versus experience.

• You are aware of your knowledge boundaries and can distinguish between what you know and what you don't. You possess a genuine curiosity and are eager to share knowledge as much as you seek it.
