Backend Data Engineer, PHP/Symfony

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable data ingestion pipelines for a diverse array of structured and unstructured data sources.

• Create and sustain a canonical, adaptable data model that facilitates long-term evolution, interoperability, and backward compatibility.

• Ensure that ingested data is normalized, validated, deduplicated, enriched, and stored in a structured, future-proof manner.

• Architect systems that accommodate schema evolution, data lineage, traceability, and auditability.

• Develop stable, well-documented, versioned APIs for both internal and external users.

• Design APIs with strong assurances regarding backward compatibility, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

• Implement automated data curation and enrichment workflows utilizing modern techniques such as machine learning, entity resolution, classification, semantic matching, and anomaly detection.

• Collaborate closely with product, platform, and domain experts to iteratively refine data models and workflows.

• Optimize systems for scalability, performance, fault tolerance, and low-latency API access.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong experience with PHP and Symfony frameworks.

• Proficient in PostgreSQL and Doctrine.

• Familiarity with Symfony Messenger, Scheduler, and Redis.

• Experience in building ETL/ELT or data platform systems.

• Proficiency in programming languages including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.

• Understanding of data modeling, schema registries, and metadata management.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• 5–8+ years of experience with PHP & PostgreSQL (approximately 6–10 years in backend/data engineering overall).
