This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.
• Develop, execute, validate, and implement advanced rating, reserving, and risk models for Sompo's global agricultural insurance initiatives.
• Create satellite-based yield prediction models (NDVI/remote sensing) and funding models in R to aid in pricing, funding, and risk selection processes.
• Lead and contribute to research and development predictive analytics projects aimed at enhancing the team's modeling and risk assessment capabilities.
• Conduct actuarial pricing (experience and exposure rating), evaluate program performance and loss costs, and determine capital needs through stochastic and financial modeling.
• Assist with new product development and collaborate with underwriting, product, and analytics teams.
• Engage with external clients and partners, and carry out additional tasks as assigned.
• At least 5 years of experience in actuarial pricing.
• Proficient in R programming, particularly in statistical and predictive model development; familiarity with remote sensing or geospatial data is advantageous.
• Capability to develop models and conduct analyses focused on critical business risks, demonstrating strong intuition and judgment.
• Bachelor's degree preferred, specializing in Actuarial Science or Statistics; ACAS or FCAS designation is a plus.
• Experience in managing analytical processes and projects from start to finish.
• Outstanding technical, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented; a collaborative team player who thrives under pressure, meets tight deadlines, and adapts to shifting priorities.
