Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sri Lanka.

📋 Description

• Design, create, and uphold automation workflows utilizing scripting and RPA platforms.

• Develop reusable automation modules to enhance IT operations and service delivery.

• Create and maintain scripts using PowerShell, Python, Jinja, and Bash.

• Handle JSON and structured data to facilitate scalable automation solutions.

• Develop automation solutions within RMM environments like Datto RMM or similar platforms.

• Automate operational MSP tasks, including user provisioning, ticketing workflows, device management, monitoring, and alert remediation.

• Support and optimize service desk and infrastructure operations through automation initiatives.

• Construct and maintain integrations using REST APIs across various systems and platforms.

• Work with API documentation, including OpenAPI and Swagger specifications.

• Integrate automation solutions with Microsoft 365, Azure, and other MSP technologies.

• Utilize Git for version control and collaborative development practices.

• Keep clear documentation for automation workflows, scripts, and integrations.

• Collaborate closely with service desk, infrastructure, and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities and deliver scalable solutions.

• Recognize repetitive manual tasks and implement automation to enhance operational efficiency.

• Continuously optimize workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Apply security-first principles across all automation processes and integrations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong proficiency in PowerShell, Python, Jinja, and Bash scripting.

• Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining automation workflows using RPA platforms such as Rewst or equivalent tools.

• Experience working within RMM environments like Datto RMM or similar platforms.

• Solid understanding of REST APIs, system integrations, and JSON data handling.

• Experience using Git for version control and collaboration.

• Knowledge of web and email technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Previous experience in MSP, Helpdesk, Service Desk, or IT infrastructure environments.

• Strong understanding of MSP operations, workflows, and common operational challenges.

• Experience in automating service desk processes, infrastructure management, and operational workflows.

• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure, and MSP tools such as ConnectWise or Autotask is highly desirable.

• Excellent documentation and communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.

• Proactive in identifying automation opportunities and process improvements.

• Capability to balance operational priorities while maintaining high-quality delivery standards.
