This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Evaluate, estimate, negotiate, and inspect first- and third-party auto physical damage claims.
• Ensure consistent service quality throughout the entire claim lifecycle.
• Manage assignments and promptly travel to vehicle or equipment sites.
• Assess claims and establish physical claim values utilizing recognized resources and estimating/evaluation software.
• Prepare and document damage appraisals for vehicles/equipment along with Actual Cash and Replacement values.
• Collaborate with assigned Claim Professionals from the initial investigation to the final recovery.
• Negotiate claim values and settlements with customers and repair facilities.
• Determine settlement amounts for relevant total-loss claims.
• Communicate settlements and initiate payments, including total loss and rental reimbursements.
• Provide inspection assistance across various lines of business, including catastrophe response.
• Review coverage and apply relevant policy conditions, provisions, exclusions, and endorsements.
• Oversee the repair process and maintain claim and expense reserves.
• Create and update action plans and claim diaries to ensure timely resolution of vehicle repairs.
• Communicate damage assessments and secure payment authorization.
• Act as a technical resource and provide advice to claim professionals regarding claim damages.
• Participate in catastrophe response deployments and carry out other assigned responsibilities.
• High school diploma or GED with at least one year of experience in auto appraisal.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• State appraiser and claim handling licenses where necessary; these licenses are generally required within three months of employment.
• An associate's, bachelor's, or technical school degree is preferred for ideal candidates.
• A minimum of two years of auto appraisal experience and previous experience with an insurance carrier is preferred.
• Strong technical background and comprehensive knowledge of auto repair techniques, terminology, and construction methods.
• In-depth understanding of claims appraisal systems and operations.
• Proficiency in Windows, including Excel and Word.
• Willingness to participate in auto catastrophe responses, including extended deployments and unscheduled travel with minimal notice.
• Strong mathematical and negotiation skills are essential.
• Ability to stay updated on jurisdictional laws and regulations and communicate compliance requirements effectively.
• Commitment to ongoing education.
• Capacity to travel to vehicle/equipment locations and deploy away for at least 16 days, including two travel days.
• Insurance license(s) may be necessary to fulfill essential functions and must be maintained with ongoing education as required.
