Authorization Associate, Patient Access

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Request, follow up on, acquire, and confirm authorizations, referrals, and notifications using the appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes within specified timelines.

• Operate in a call center setting while achieving individual quality performance metrics.

• Manage patient flow and process requests promptly.

• Maintain and apply knowledge of departmental procedures, physician practices, and hospital policies to effectively address patient inquiries and concerns.

• Stay informed about insurance requirements, BHSF pricing, financial assistance options, and BHSF Revenue Cycle operations.

• Deliver professional, empathetic, and friendly service to patients, families, employees, physicians, and community members.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma, certificate, GED, relevant training, or equivalent experience.

• At least 1 year of experience in validating or obtaining authorizations from insurance payers.

• Successfully complete the Patient Access training course.

• Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.

• Competence in performing basic mathematical calculations.

• Detail-oriented and well-organized.

• Team-oriented with strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.

• Familiarity with medical and insurance terminology is preferred.

• Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and EMR software.

• Accurate typing abilities.

• Understanding of regulatory guidelines including HIPAA, AHCA, and EMTALA.

• Knowledge of Medicare coverage structure, including compliance guidelines for medical necessity.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole is a plus.
