Audit and Billing Compliance Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Perform internal monitoring and auditing functions related to policies and procedures.

• Analyze medical records and billing system programs to assess procedure code and billing precision.

• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and UAMS coding and billing regulations.

• Offer education and training to UAMS billing providers and staff based on audit findings.

• Manage compliance concerns for designated departments.

• Conduct professional coding and billing audits according to the scheduled audit plan.

• Examine medical record documentation and billing system operations to verify revenue-cycle accuracy.

• Act as a resource and point of contact for coding, billing, reporting, regulatory, and documentation inquiries.

• Meet with billing providers to discuss improvements in documentation for optimal reimbursement.

• Create and deliver educational in-service programs.

• Keep attendance records for mandatory sessions.

• Investigate issues and provide expert coding advice.

• Carry out ad hoc audits and follow-up tasks, including those related to external audits.

• Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) years of experience in professional coding/auditing roles, or a High School diploma/GED plus seven (7) years of experience in professional coding/auditing roles required.

• A current coding certification is mandatory: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Nurse (RN), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCS-P), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

• Proven ability to communicate information effectively in verbal form.

• Strong written communication skills with an emphasis on detail.

• Candidates must provide proof of legal eligibility to work in the United States by their first day of employment.
