This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conducts various complex monitoring and testing activities with minimal supervision, including creating risk-based work papers, procedures, and templates, to assess the effectiveness of control activities and processes as per the annual compliance monitoring and testing schedule.

• Accurately and thoroughly document monitoring and testing activities in line with department standards, effectively conveying the objective, scope, and supporting conclusions of test findings.

• Prepares comprehensive communication reports that summarize findings, including root cause analyses.

• Verifies the implementation of remediation plans submitted by issue owners to ensure that issues identified during monitoring or testing activities are addressed and that root causes are fully resolved.

• Follows up on the completion of action plans for issues identified during monitoring or testing to ensure they are completed within target date timeframes. This includes obtaining monthly status updates from action plan owners and updating the status in the GRC tool.

• Identifies opportunities to leverage data analytics and statistical analyses to automate testing of control activities and regulatory components.

• Analyzes complaint data to identify trends, compliance gaps, and potential compliance risks.

• Utilizes social media listening tools and AI-driven software for marketing compliance monitoring and ongoing regulatory compliance oversight.

• Maintains an in-depth understanding of applicable rules and regulations, including but not limited to Regulation E, the Truth in Savings Act, Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP), FACTA, Reg Z-Truth in Lending, Reg B-Equal Credit Opportunity Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

• Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders and team members.

• Assists in completing the annual compliance risk assessment.

• Provides internal services in alignment with Coastal Core Values.

• Due to the dynamic nature of our organization, other duties may be assigned as needed.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance.

• Strong investigative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the capability to offer practical recommendations and solutions.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.

• Capacity to exercise independent judgment and perform complex analytical work autonomously.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize issues, articulate complex concepts clearly, create effective reports, and interact with a diverse range of individuals across all levels of the department and financial institution.

• Must be proactive, a self-starter, and possess exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.

• Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all organizational levels.

• Proficiency in standard computer applications, including the Windows Office suite, e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel.

• 5+ years of combined experience in Bank Regulatory Compliance, Audit, or Risk Management, including at least 1 year of experience in conducting compliance testing and/or monitoring.

• Ideally, experience in both fintech and traditional financial institutions.

• Proven expertise in consumer protection regulations and laws, along with the internal controls necessary to mitigate associated risks. Experience in both lending and deposits regulations is required.

• Expertise in data analysis for trend identification and utilizing software applications for compliance monitoring is essential.

• CRCM certification or completion of specialized training in compliance (e.g., ABA Graduate School of Compliance Risk Management) is a bonus.
