This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Manage one or more accounts; assist in defining and driving integrated medical/scientific communication strategies, including publication planning and communication tactics.
• Act as a primary scientific contact for client stakeholders and clinical leads; ensure alignment of scientific strategy with brand priorities.
• Set quality standards and implement best practices across designated teams.
• Supervise the creation of high-quality content for manuscripts, congress materials, training content, digital assets, and MLR-regulated documents.
• Perform thorough scientific reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with stylistic guidelines (AMA, client style guides, journal/congress standards).
• Ensure adherence to relevant industry standards (e.g., Good Publication Practices, International Committee of Medical Journal Editors guidelines, PhRMA guidelines).
• Lead and advocate for submissions in MLR systems; independently resolve scientific issues.
• Facilitate scientific discussions, workshops, speaker training sessions, and advisory boards; represent the organization in external settings.
• Provide scientific leadership during pitches and proposals; collaborate with Client Services on resource allocation, project scoping, and forecasting.
• Supervise 3–5 direct reports (writers/ASDs); conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and support career advancement.
• Assess training requirements and develop structured growth plans to enhance team capabilities.
• Assist in project scoping and resource planning; proactively escalate potential risks.
• Support recruitment initiatives for team hires.
• Maintain rigorous version control, documentation practices, and compliance with internal procedures.
• Streamline scientific workflows and processes to boost consistency and efficiency.
• Anticipate potential risks and complex challenges; implement mitigation strategies and share insights from the therapeutic and industry landscape to enrich team knowledge.
• An advanced degree in a scientific or healthcare-related discipline is preferred (e.g., MSc, PhD, PharmD, MD).
• Candidates possessing a relevant bachelor's or master's degree along with substantial experience may also be eligible.
• Approximately 5+ years of experience in medical communications or medical writing, including leadership of multiple assets or accounts and oversight of scientific teams.
• At least 1+ years of experience in people management and coaching.
• Exceptional skills in scientific writing, editing, and data interpretation; proficiency in publication standards where applicable.
• Strong strategic thinking and client leadership abilities; expert facilitation and presentation skills.
• Deep understanding of the clinical research and regulatory environment; comfortable navigating MLR submissions.
• Competence in Microsoft Office, graphic design software, and collaboration tools.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Remote/hybrid work options available based on location.
• Occasional overnight travel (up to approximately 20%).
