This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee continuous supervision and conduct regular account evaluations for PM, APM, and sales team activities. Evaluate whether the suggestions and investment choices align with KYC, KYP, and suitability requirements under Canadian securities legislation.
• Assess financial plans created by advisors and planners for thoroughness, compliance with regulations, and consistency with client goals. Ensure that the planning deliverables — such as retirement forecasts, tax strategies, and estate planning considerations — are based on accurate client data and adhere to relevant proficiency and disclosure standards.
• Implement the firm's sales conduct review program, which includes both scheduled and risk-based reviews of client files, interaction logs, and account documentation. Detect trends, escalate concerns, and facilitate remediation with the appropriate business teams.
• Review client onboarding and update procedures to ensure that KYC information is complete, up-to-date, and documented in line with regulatory mandates. Verify that Approved Persons possess adequate KYP knowledge for each product they recommend, and identify gaps before they escalate into regulatory issues.
• Recognize and document conflicts of interest arising from PM/APM activities, referral agreements, and compensation frameworks. Collaborate with the Director and Legal to ensure that conflicts are adequately disclosed, managed, or avoided in compliance with CFR regulations.
• Seek opportunities to enhance conduct review processes, elevate documentation standards, and utilize technology to scale supervision throughout the organization.
• 3–5 years of experience in compliance, supervision, or conduct oversight roles within a CIRO-regulated investment dealer or portfolio management firm, with direct involvement in PM/APM supervision.
• Strong working knowledge of NI 31-103, CIRO IDPC Rules, and Canada's Client-Focused Reforms — especially the KYC, KYP, suitability, and conflicts of interest obligations applicable to Approved Persons and their supervisors.
• Familiarity with financial planning concepts (retirement income, tax-efficient investing, estate planning, insurance) and an understanding of how planning deliverables relate to regulatory suitability requirements. Possession of CFP, PFP, or equivalent designation is a significant advantage.
• Completion of the CIRO Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam and Supervisor Examination OR prior completion of the Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH), and Investment Dealers Supervisors Course (IDSC) with eligibility for registration as a Supervisor. Completion of, or interest in obtaining, the Chartered Investment Manager Designation (CIM®).
• Ability to review a client file, trade blotter, or financial plan and swiftly identify missing elements, inconsistencies, and issues that require escalation.
• Conducting this work can involve sensitive matters. You are adept at addressing difficult findings, adhering strictly to regulatory standards, and managing pushback from business stakeholders — all while fostering strong professional relationships.
• Proficient in utilizing technology and AI tools to automate repetitive tasks.
• Comprehensive health benefits and life insurance.
• Long-term group savings plan with employer matching through Wealthsimple for Business.
• 20 vacation days, 4 wellness days, and unlimited sick and mental health days each year.
• Opportunity to work outside Canada for up to 90 days per year.
• Access to employee resource groups, including Rainbow (2SLGBTQ), Women of WS, and Black at WS.
